There are two types of nouns in English:

Type | Example Sentences |
---|---|
β Countable | “I have a book.” / “She ate two apples.” |
β Uncountable | “Can I have some water?” / “There is a little sugar in my coffee.” |
β Incorrect | β “I have an information.” (β “Information” is uncountable!) Instead, we say: β “I have some information.” β “I have a piece of information.” |
π Common Mistake: Never use “a/an” with uncountable nouns. Instead, use “some,” “a little,” or “a lot of.”
β Correct: “I need apples.”
β Wrong: “I need an apples.”
