Lesson Objectives

- How to talk about future plans using “going to”.
- The structure for positive, negative, and question forms.
- How to use the correct form of “to be” (am, is, are).
- To make your own sentences about your plans.
π What is βGoing toβ?
We use βgoing toβ to talk about the future. It tells us what someone plans to do or what is going to happen.
β Structure
Subject + am / is / are + going to + verb
I am going to eat.
She is going to sleep.
They are going to study.
β Positive Sentences
We use βgoing toβ when you have already decided to do something or you have a plan.
I am going to visit my grandma tomorrow.
She is going to read that book.
We are going to play football later.
β Questions with βGoing toβ
To ask questions, just change the order and put the verb ‘to be’ first.
Am / Is / Are + subject + going to + verb?
Are you going to eat?
Is he going to travel?
Am I going to win?
β Negative Sentences
To say someone is not going to do something, add ‘not’ after the verb ‘to be’.
Subject + am / is / are + not + going to + verb
I am not going to sleep late.
He is not (isn’t) going to watch TV.
They are not (aren’t) going to come today.
