Start the testIs your V clear, or does it sound like B or W? Read ten sentences full of V words and get an instant pronunciation score. Every sentence here is A1 level: short, everyday and easy to read.
The English V is made with the top teeth resting on the bottom lip while you use your voice. Speakers of Spanish often say B, and speakers of German, Hindi or Chinese often mix V with W. Because very and berry or vest and west are different words, a clear V makes a big difference to how easily people understand you.
At A1 the goal is simple: say common words clearly enough that a listener understands you first time. The sentences use the words you already know, such as family, food, home and school, so all your attention goes to the sound itself and not to the vocabulary.
Saying B, so very sounds like berry
Rounding the lips for W, so vine sounds like wine
Dropping the voice at the end of words, so have sounds like half
Saying F in words like of and seven
Each sentence trains one sound. The orange label above the sentence tells you which one.
I cut the vegetables.
You are very kind.
I visit my grandma.

We visit the zoo.
