Prepositions of place show the location of a person or object.

β “The book is on the table.”
β “The cat is under the chair.”
Let’s look at the most common prepositions of place!
Preposition | Meaning | Example |
---|---|---|
In | Inside something | The apple is in the box. |
On | Touching a surface | The book is on the table. |
Under | Lower than something | The ball is under the chair. |
Next to | Beside, very close | The lamp is next to the bed. |
Between | In the middle of two things | The school is between the bank and the park. |
Behind | At the back of something | The car is behind the house. |
