Present Perfect vs Past Simple: Ancora Non Sai Quale Usare?

Past SimpleMomento specifico e concluso“I visited Paris in 2019.” (momento preciso, finito)

  • Con il present perfect: already, just, yet, never, ever, since, for, so far, recently.
  • Con il past simple: yesterday, last week, in 2020, ago, when I was a child.

Present Perfect vs Past Simple in Frasi Reali

  • I have already finished my homework. — momento non specificato, risultato visibile ora.
  • I finished my homework at 6pm. — momento preciso.
  • She has never been to Japan. — esperienza di vita, senza tempo specifico.
  • She went to Japan in 2018. — momento specifico nel passato.

6 Errori Comuni tra Present Perfect e Past Simple

“I am living here since 2020”“I have lived here since 2020”Un’azione iniziata nel passato e ancora in corso richiede il present perfect
“Did you ever go to London?” in un contesto di esperienza generale“Have you ever been to London?”“Ever” in domande sull’esperienza di vita richiede il present perfect
“I have finished it two hours ago”“I finished it two hours ago”“Ago” richiede sempre il past simple, mai il present perfect

Mettiti alla Prova

Domande Frequenti su Present Perfect vs Past Simple

No, mai.

Already, just, yet, never, ever, since, for e recently sono i segnali più comuni del present perfect.

Yesterday, last week, in [anno specifico] e when I was a child segnalano quasi sempre il past simple.

Since richiede sempre il present perfect?

Sì, quando l’azione è iniziata nel passato e continua ancora ora: “I have lived here since 2015”, non “I live here since 2015”.

È corretto dire “Did you ever go to London”?

“Did you ever” è raramente corretto in inglese moderno per domande di esperienza; la forma standard è “Have you ever…?”.

I have visited Paris three times.”
