La I breve di sit, big e live è corta e rilassata, con la lingua un po' più bassa rispetto alla I lunga di seat. L'italiano ha una sola I, quindi molti studenti usano sempre quella lunga e dicono sheep invece di ship o leave invece di live. È una delle coppie di vocali più importanti dell'inglese.
